A clean eating lifestyle can be delicious while being nutritious and simple!
One of the driving forces behind The Honest Skillet creation…as a nurse, avid equestrian, and amateur CrossFitter... I didn't always get opportunities to eat the best. I made it a challenge for myself to take my lunch to work every day for a week, then challenged myself the next week and the week after that and the next thing I knew it was a year later.
I now pack my lunch 90% of the time. I have a lunch bag that has built-in freezer packs. I know carry snacks and my lunch.
Now it is just a habit. At the start of my journey, I needed meal prep ideas, and I came across a lot of them, and it seemed overwhelming at first. But as with anything, it is hard at first, it then becomes more comfortable and with time it becomes second nature.
The problem was a lack of consistent protein, vegetables, and healthier options to sustain my active life. Processed ready-to-heat and eat foods were not nourishing enough. I set out to find healthy and easily adaptable meals that kept my body healthy and full of life. People took notice that I looked more vibrant and not so tired looking!

It's for those of you who have to follow a recipe and struggle to learn how to go off the beaten path and create your recipes that are satisfying and tasting great.
It's for those of you who are in a rut and tired of eating the same food over and over again.
This cookbook has been designed as a stepping stone to a healthier lifestyle for you and your family.
For those of you who are more advanced in your dietary lifestyles you can I just the recipes to your needs if you're a vegetarian you can omit meat and sub tofu or beans if needed. You can add rice and quinoa to the skillet meals for the extra carb load.
Most of the recipes are overall paleo and keto friendly.
My recipes are mostly crossovers. They are are not one specific healthy eating Style versus another. I don't cook with sugar unless it's Maple or honey, these are dairy free, gluten free recipes.
Personally, I eat mostly paleo about 80% of the time and then 20% I eat clean. I control my diet and lifestyle where I can and in the times I can't I enjoy the company around me and decrease my portion size of the cake at my best friend's wedding or my cousin's graduation party.
I don't beat myself up over that because I'm in control of the situation because I know my breakfast was part of my lifestyle and that I knew I was going to have cake, so I planned accordingly.
